Has anyone else read Neal Stephenson's novel Fall? The antivax dating, news, medical system is one of the better IRL examples of what starts to amount to of a parallel experience of reality coexisting with our own. (But it all goes back to Wuhan instead of Moab.)

There's your old-fashioned, rich right-wing, and everybody supporting that gets work in their P.R. firms ("think tanks") or the media they own.

There's your new alt-right wing of bigots, and this is THEIR river of funds.

The Venn-diagram overlap between paranoid-style politics and grifting has always been plain. Steve Bannon is just an out-front, already-arrested, had-to-be-pardoned, crooked grifter. ("Crooked" grifter to distinguish from Justin's targets, who are apparently legal.)

That's the angle I wanted reported on with the Convoy, was surprised that the Feds didn't bring out the issue as justification for the account-freeze: the Convoy really looked to me like a grift. One guy with $20K in gasoline and supply expenses couldn't find anybody to bill. They quickly set up systems to get money from the Convoy, where were they on a system to dole it back out?

Wow, well at least most of these folks don’t subscribe to the idea that COVID was a hoax.

It’s my sense that unfortunately a lot of the antivax folks, who started mostly being against Covid vaccines are now against any vaccines. As a nurse ( retired) I fear that with increased numbers of kids not being vaccinated, schools will become breeding grounds for diseases that we thought were irradiated from the western world. With the way viruses tend to mutate and evolve, I fear that even those who are vaccinated will become at greater risk for disease and current vaccines will not be as effective.
