Re "the huge rise in traffic to Truth Social," that could simply be, of course, because an increasing number of people want to read with their own eyes what their increasingly unhinged President is broadcasting to the world. That would fortify their conclusion that he is a living disaster.

As for gerrymandering, G. Elliott Morris reports that, after the US Supreme Court's Callais decision, "Republican states are dismantling Black voting districts at breakneck speed" in Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee. As a result, "Combined with potential moves elsewhere throughout the South, Republicans could net 13–15 seats from racial gerrymandering alone—and in time for the 2026 elections."

If this goes on the MAGAs won't need to argue "stolen election" after the November midterms. They'll have stolen it in advance.

For sure about the rise in Truth Social traffic. Still, I'd be curious to know what the increase in their active users has looked like...

And yes, it is looking increasingly clear that the GOP are going to win this gerrymandering fight. That is very very bad. Optimism over the midterms should be strongly discouraged.

I lived a couple of blocks from Comet Ping Pong. It didn't have a basement, but it did have ping pong. And good pies, for DC.

I've always wanted to go! It sounds like a really cool spot.

Ben Shapiro's is a classic cautionary tale. He must have on some level known he was cultivating an audience at risk of turning against him and his ultra-Zionism.

For a brief moment, I was excited about the return of Optimistic Justin but alas. Hopefully soon.

I long for the return to optimism. Alas, we're not there yet.
