It's not disparaging. The results of both government (https://www.nist.gov/pao/questions-and-answers-about-nist-wtc-7-investigation) and independent (https://ascelibrary.org/doi/abs/10.1061/(ASCE)0733-9399(2008)134:10(892)) studies have confirmed that there is simply no compelling evidence for residue from a thermite reaction.

Can you find studies that say otherwise? Yes. But they rely on insufficient evidence: Either anecdotal stories or one sample that investigators found had no chain of custody.

For the thermite explanation to make sense, you have to believe that someone placed it there. So, unless you're advocating for a *massive* coincidence, you believe the events of that day were planned by someone inside the U.S. — despite the overwhelming body of evidence to the contrary. So you're coming to a motivated conclusion and working backwards from there to make the evidence fit.
